Are You Prepared?

So - you are planning to make some changes in your life!  You want to improve yourself in some way.  Perhaps improve your health by changing your eating habits and start an exercise routine.  Perhaps you want to grow as person, and improve your relationships.  Maybe you are in a relationship and it is time to end it and move on with your life.

There is no expedient to which a man
will not go to avoid the labor of thinking.
- Thomas Edison

Making changes in our life is what 'growing' is all about.  But, are you prepared? Have you given it a lot of thought?  Have you developed a plan?  The definition of 'planning' is the cognitive process of thinking about what you will do in the event of something happeningAre you prepared for what might happen?  When the going gets tough, and it will, do you have a plan to overcome these problems?

Many of us have great ideas about how to make changes our lives, but when we get down to it, we are not prepared to make that change.  We had an idea, but no plan for executing the idea.

To do anything in this world worth doing,
we must not stand back shivering
and thinking of the cold and danger,
but jump in,
and scramble through as well as we can.
- Sydney Smith

Are you prepared for the fear and anxiety that is waiting for you?  Are you prepared to get out of your 'comfort zone' and make decisions based on facts, not emotions?  If you are not prepared for these events, you will end up scraping your plans and returning to your comfort zone, seeking the safety and comfort of doing nothing.

Ralph Carrell says  'avoid the crowd. Do your own thinking independently. Be the chess player, not the chess piece'.

Develop a plan for your idea.  Think about what may happen and plan for each circumstance.  Then execute your plan.

- Joe Freeman

You better live your best
and act your best
and think your best today,
for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow
and all the other tomorrows that follow.
- Harriet Martineau
